James W. Clark

James W. Clark, age 78, of Alto, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2011, at his residence.
Mr. Clark was born on June 4, 1933, in Banks County, Georgia; a son of the late Bud and Lillie Pendergrass Clark. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Bertie Mae Clark, Bonnie Kay Clark, and Wannie Fay Clark and his brothers, Bill and Bobby Clark. Mr. Clark was a United States veteran having proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict. He retired from the Lee Arrendale State Prison with 12 years of service and was formerly employed with the Georgia Department of Transportation with 15 years of service. Mr. Clark was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include his loving wife, Margie Morris Clark, of the home; daughter, Pansy Wright, Alto, GA; sons and daughters-in-law, Lane and Karen Savage, Cornelia, GA and Scott and Fern Savage, St. Charles, Missouri; sister and brother-in-law, Mildred Clark and Butch Heck, Maysville, GA; nine grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 31, 2011, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, Georgia, with Rev. Gerald Adamson and Rev. Paul Morris officiating. Entombment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens with full military honors provided by the Habersham County American Legion Post #84, the Grant Reeves VFW Post #7720, and the Rabun County DAV Chapter #15.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, December 30, 2011, at the funeral home.
