Eulene Mote Thurmond

Mrs. Eulene Mote Thurmond, 85 of Gainesville died Tuesday December 27, 2011 at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

A lifelong resident of Hall County, Mrs. Thurmond was the daughter of the late Mack and Mamie McDonald Gowder. Mrs. Thurmond had worked for the Western Sizzlin Steak House in Gainesville for over 30 years and was retired from West Hall High School where she had worked in the lunchroom for a number of years and worked also at the Gainesville Church of God Precient #2 for the Hall County Voter Registration. She was a member of the Yellow Creek Baptist Church.

Mrs. Thurmond is preceded in death by her first husband, Rev. Thomas G. Mote, her second husband, Carl Thurmond, a son Phillip Mote and a daughter, Faye Mote.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law; Rickie and Shirley Mote, Gainesville; grandchildren, Cody and Katey Mote, T.G. and Whitney Mote, Brandy and John Phillips all of Gainesville; Lindsey Mote, Toccoa. great grandchild, Brandon Caudell, Toccoa. A number of neices and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday December 30, 2011 at the Yellow Creek Baptist Church. The Rev. Chris Gilbert, the Rev. Ricky Stone and the Rev. Robert Nix will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with the Rev. Matthew Pruitt officiating. The body will lie in state at the church Friday from 1:30 p.m. until the funeral hour.

The family will receive friends at the Mason & Ward Funeral Home Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
