Alexander Funeral Home of Cleveland announces the death of Mr. Scott Cleveland, age 49 of Cleveland. Mr. Cleveland passed away peacefully Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at his residence.
Funeral services are scheduled for 3:30pm, Friday, December 30, 2011 from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Tom Waggoneer officiating. Interment will follow in Gateway Memory Park.
Mr. Cleveland was born in Hart County on March 16, 1962 to the late Jack Cleveland and Sally Rice Cleveland. He was a 1980 graduate of Hart County High School and a 1984 graduate of Piedmont College, where he earned his Business Administration Degree and earned his place in the Piedmont College Hall of Fame in baseball for having the highest career batting average.
Scott was a Master Carpenter by trade and had a real love for nature and enjoyed sharing that love with his sons by becoming involved in the Boy Scouts, where he served as Assistant Scout Master for Troop 140 and Scout Master for Troop 689. Scott also served for many years on the White County Park and Recreation Board.
Survivors include his wife, Jane Cleveland of Cleveland; sons Daniel and Chris Cleveland of Cleveland; and brothers Tony and Andrew Cleveland of Hartwell.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Boy Scouts of America.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 6 to 8 pm
