Mr. Harold Erastus Hawks, age 90, of Nicholson, GA died Saturday, December 24, 2011 at his residence. Mr. Hawks was born in Jackson County to the late Claud and Leona McConnell Hawks. He was a United States Air Force Veteran and a member of New Harmony Baptist Church. Mr. Hawks was retired from the USDA Poultry Research Lab.
Mr. Hawks is survived by his wife, Joyce Barnett Hawks of Nicholson; son, David Hawks of Nicholson; daughter, Lynda Hemphill of Athens; sisters, Evelyn Haynes of Danielsville and Dorothy Erdman of MO; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 PM, Monday, December 26 at New Harmony Baptist Church with Rev. Allen Seagraves, Rev. Melvin Cochran, Rev. Joseph Brooks and Rev. Zach Hawks officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive
