James Kinder Jones

James Kinder "Jim" Jones, age 76 of Cornelia, passed away Friday, December 23, 2011 at a private nursing facility following a courageous battle against Alzheimer's.

Born in Sunbright, Morgan County TN on September 10, 1935, he was a son of the late Hugh Kinder and Xenia England Jones. Mr. Jones was a member of the Cornelia United Methodist Church and the Optimist Club. He was also a veteran of the United States Navy and retired from the Habersham County Board of Education where he served as the Principal of Habersham Central High School for 21 years, touching many lives. Jim was a loving husband, father and grandfather, who enjoyed spending time with his family. He was fun loving, active in his community, passionate about HCHS and he never met a stranger.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Phillips Jones of Cornelia, GA; daughter, Jamie Weyenberg and son-in-law Andy Weyenberg of Cumming, GA; son, James K. "Jay" Jones and daughter-in-law Sabrina Jones of Braselton, GA; mother-in-law, Macel Phillips of Wartburg, TN; five grandchildren, Sydney Jones, Katelyn Weyenberg, Drew Weyenberg, Kinder Jones and Jake Weyenberg.

Memorial services are 7:00 pm Monday, December 26, 2011, at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Dr. Kenneth Franklin officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home 4 pm until the service hour on Monday.
