Sarah Ruth Cisson Loudermilk

Sarah Ruth "Cissy" Cisson Loudermilk, age 86, of Sautee-Nacoochee, Georgia passed away just after midnight Friday, December 2, 2011 following a period of declining health.

She was born on November 16, 1925 in the Red Hill Community of Franklin County, Georgia to Albert L. and Zettie Williams Cisson. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by siblings Lucy Bell Watkins, Leroy Cisson, L. D. (Deiter) Cisson, Eugene Cisson, Hazel Thompson Macomson, and John Cisson, and great-granddaughter Sarah Brook Loudermilk.

After graduating from Franklin County High School in 1943, she moved to Warner Robins where she did her share of the War effort by working on military radios. She is a 1948 graduate of Piedmont College with a major in English. In 1971, she earned a masters degree in English education and an education specialist degree in guidance counseling in 1978 both from the University of Georgia. Her teaching profession included 20 years as a classroom teacher, 18 of those years in the White County School System. The last 13 years she was the guidance counselor at White County High School. After retiring from the school system, she served as tutorial-coordinator with the Special Services Unit of Piedmont College and was named as Director of the unit for her final year.

She was a member of Nacoochee United Methodist Church for over 50 years, the Delta Kappa Gamma Society, the National Association of Educators, the Georgia Association of Educators, the White County Retired Teachers Association, and the Nacoochee Valley Book Club.

Survivors include her sister, Lottie Lou Cisson, Toccoa; daughters and sons-in-law Jane and Hue Rainey, Sautee, Susan and Kent Brittain, Helen; son and daughter-in-law Bill Loudermilk and Julie Roche, Sautee; grandchildren Christopher Hall, Atlanta, Will and Tara Loudermilk, Cleveland, Mandy Brittain and fiancé Nicholas Nash, Gainesville, Coley Loudermilk, Sautee, Clancy Loudermilk, Sautee; great-grandchildren Savion Hall, Atlanta, Emma Loudermilk, Cleveland, and Hadley Loudermilk, Cleveland; and many other extended family members.

The family will receive friends Sunday, December 4th beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the home of Mrs. Loudermilk
