Regenia Pelfrey, 85, of Dawsonville passed away Wednesday November 30, 2011 at her residence following an extended illness.
Born February 21, 1926 in Mineral Bluff to the late Otis and Willie Harper, she had lived in Dawson County since 1958 having moved from Smyrna. A homemaker at her death, she was formerly employed at Lockheed and operated the Dawsonville Cafe. She spent several years as a babysitter for many children, especially her grandchildren. Regenia was also preceded in death by her husband, J. M. Pelfrey and a sister, Geneva Henson.
Surviving are her son and daughter in law, Kenny and Deborah Pelfrey, Dawsonville; grandchildren, Kendy and Todd Bennett, Travis and Jody Pelfrey; great grandchildren, Taylor Bennett, Kane Pelfrey, Chloe Bennett, Emma Pelfrey; brothers and sisters in law, Cecil and Bernice Harper, Mineral Bluff, Leroy and Dude Harper, Dawsonville, Mickey and Marlene Harper, McCaysville, Gary and Gayle Harper, Morganton; brother in law, Homer Henson, Dawsonville; and a number of other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Friday December 2, 2011 at 2 o'clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Phillip Wehunt will officiate. Interment will follow in the Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 5 until 9 at the funeral home.
