Sallie Lou Adams Church

Sallie Lou Adams Church, age 94, of Clarkesville, Georgia, passed away on Friday, November 25, 2011.

Mrs. Church was born in Habersham County, Georgia on September 3, 1917; she was the daughter of the late W.W. and Maude Taylor Adams and was the widow of Aubrey Church. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Herbert Church, son-in-law, Morris Williams, brothers, Hilton, Vermon, and Taylor Adams; and sister, Helen Scott. Mrs. Church was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Demorest, Georgia, where she was a very active member in her earlier years. She retired from North Georgia Technical College with 10 years of service and was a volunteer for the American Red Cross.

Survivors include, daughter, Carolyn Williams, Demorest, GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Laverne and David Chamberlin, Gainesville, GA and Janet and Jerry Taylor, Demorest, GA; daughter-in-law, Linda Bowling Church, Demorest, GA; son, Phillip Church, Clarkesville, GA; sisters, Susan Jewel Howe, Watkinsville, GA and Mary Ann Young, Conyers, GA; sister-in-law, Louise Adams, Demorest, GA; 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild and special caregivers, Pam Lovell, Mary McNulty and Barbara Caudell.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 28, 2011, at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Demorest, with Rev. Russ Barker and Joel Williams officiating. Interment will be in Clarkesville City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4:00-8:00 p.m., Sunday, November 27, 2011 at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia.
