Edwin Boyd Sims

Funeral services for Edwin Boyd Sims, age 85, of Turnerville will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, November 17, 2011 from the Hillside Memorial Chapel. Rev. John Reeser will officiate and military honors will be provided by the Georgia Military Honors Funeral Team of Ft. Gillem. Interment will follow the service in Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Sims died Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at his residence.

Born in Hiawassee, Georgia on June 30, 1926, Mr. Sims was the son of the late Hamp and Lucy Burrell Sims. He was a United States Army Veteran. Mr. Sims retired as a maintenance supervisor from Lee Arrendale Correctional Institute and was a farmer. In addition to his parents Mr. Sims is preceded in death by his first wife Bronez Sims, son Jeffrey Sims, sister Elwanda Bagley, and sister Evelyn Strand.

Survivors include his wife/partner Dottiee McCollum of Turnerville, daughters Debi Sims Harris, Kay Sims Norton; brother Burrell Sims of Tyrone, GA; sister Phenie Ash of Clarkesville, GA; step-daughters Nancy Higginbotham and Angela MacMillan of Turnerville, GA; and step-sons Sam McCollum of Turnerville, GA and Andy McCollum of Athens, GA.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the funeral on Thursday, November 17, 2011 from 12:00
