Marjorie "Marge" Burns Jones

Loving Mother, Grandmother & Great-Grandmother Marjorie "Marge" Burns Jones, 85, passed from this life on Sunday, November 13, 2011. She was the widow of Robert "Bob" Jones, former President of Victaulic Company of America. They shared 35 years of marriage residing in Pittsburgh, Pa., Berkeley Heights, NJ, and Easton, Pa.

Born on January 11, 1926, in Pittsburgh, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Carl and Effie Burns. Marge was a 1943 graduate of Plum Township High School, attended Grove City College, and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 1947. She was a member of Chi Omega sorority. As a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Berkeley Heights, NJ, she was an active volunteer for many charities and events. Marge also lent her time and talents to other causes such as the USO, the AAUW, and the League of Women Voters. As a widow, Marge relocated to Savannah, Ga, where she became a proprietor of The Tea Room of Savannah. She also was very active in the United Methodist Church of Skidaway and the Hope House. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved to care for and entertain her family. Marge was an incurable "Roadwarrior" who would jump into a car at a moment's notice to drive thousands of miles to see her children, family, and friends. She was an avid bridge player, crossword puzzle solver, baker, and reader. Marge loved to travel and make new friends.

She is survived by one daughter, Kim Jones (Bryan) Hutton of Cumming, Ga; two sons, Richard (Elizabeth) Jones of Murrysville, Pa., and Kacy (Lorrie) Jones of Stroudsburg, Pa; four granddaughters, Stacie Hutton Williams of Camden, Ala, Courtney Hutton of Charleston, SC, and Samantha and Jessica Jones of Stroudsburg, Pa.; and two great-grandchildren, Sam and Harper Williams of Camden, Ala.

A memorial service for the family will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Pittsburgh, Pa., on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at 10:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made in Marjorie Jones's name to the USO, 2111 Wilson Boulevard, Suite 1200, Arlington, VA, 22201.
