John James Seymour

Mr. John James Seymour, age 85, of Commerce, GA died Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at his residence.
Mr. Seymour was born in Madison County to the late Luther David and Cecile Fortson Seymour. He was a member of Jones Chapel Methodist Church. Mr. Seymour was the founder of Seymour's Garage and Wrecker Service and was a United States Army Veteran sharp shooter.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Seymour was preceded in death by his first wife, Dot Barrett Seymour; son, James David Seymour; brother, Odelle Seymour and great-granddaughter, Ansley Brooke Thornton.
Mr. Seymour is survived by his second wife, Joann Drake Seymour of Commerce; children, Marilyn McKie (Rusty) of Maysville, Barbara Seymour-Piedilato (John) of Iva, SC, Sandra Sheridan (Dan) of Maysville, Sharon Seymour Ward (John) of Commerce and Mitch Seymour (Sonya) of Ila; step-children, Deborah McGinnis (David) Summerville, David Hooper (Becky) of Toccoa, and Larry Hooper (Regina) of Lavonia; sister, Bonnie Berryman of Danielsville; 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren and 8 step-grandchildren and 4 step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Friday, November 11 at the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home with the Rev. Steven Parker officiating. Interment will follow in Jackson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 2 to 4 PM and 7 to 9 PM.
