Bessie Lou Pilgrim Gerrells, age 88, of Cleveland, GA passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2011, at Habersham County Medical Center.
Born in White County on October 18, 1923, she was a daughter of the late William Henry and Dellia Viola Freeman Pilgrim. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gerrells was also preceded in death by her husband, Herman Lamar Gerrells; twin daughters, Brenda and Linda Gerrells; sisters, Dovie Pilgrim and Cora Kinsey; brothers, Robert, Hamp and Lester Pilgrim.
Mrs. Gerrells was a native and lifelong resident of White County. She was a member of Macedonia United Methodist Church and attended Mt. Vernon Holiness Church. Mrs. Gerrells was a homemaker who enjoyed visiting the senior center and spending time with her friends. She loved the Lord and was a loving mother and grandmother.
Survivors include her sons, Ray Gerrells of Mt. Airy, Dan Gerrells of Cornelia, Ed Gerrells of Clarkesville, Bill Gerrells of Cleveland; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Renee' Gerrells of Gainesville; daughters, Lillie Ash of Cornelia and Sara Moore of Cleveland; daughter and son-in-law, Molly and Jerry Johnson of Cleveland; sister, Lonia Gunter of Demorest; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are 11:00 am, Thursday, November 10, 2011, at Macedonia United Methodist Church with Rev. Lester Haynes and Rev. Garvis Kinsey officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11 am - 2 pm and from 5 pm
