Cleo Swafford Bruce, 91, of Dawsonville passed away Friday November 4, 2011 at Northside Forsyth Hospital following a short illness.
Born October 9, 1920 to the late Carl and Mae Swafford, she lived most of her life in the Dawson County area. A homemaker at her death, most of her career was spent as a cook and she formerly owned and operated the City Grill in Dawsonville. Cleo was also preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley Bradford; and sons in law, Bradley Cain and Curtis Bradford.
Surviving are her children, Gary and Shirley Bruce, Hoschton, Carol Cain, Dawsonville, Doug and Faye Bruce, Dawsonville, Brad and Jane Bruce, Cumming, Tony and Joan Bruce, Dawsonville; sisters and brother in law, Lois and Loy Chumley, Marble Hill, Eunice "Boody" Chumley, Dawsonville; brothers and sisters in law, Glenson and Arlene Swafford, Dawsonville, Max and Gail Swafford, Holly Springs; 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Sunday November 6, 2011 at 2 o'clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Gary English will officiate. Interment will follow in the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 12 noon until 9 at the funeral home.
