Hazel Wood Hooper, age 93 of the Batesville Community, passed away Wednesday, November 2, 2011, at her residence following a brief illness.
Ms Hooper was a lifelong resident Habersham County having been born on September 3, 1918. She was a daughter of the late Oliver and Ella Smith Wood. She was retired from Outerwear Manufacturing and also served as a cook at LaPrade's. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, canning, yard work and talking on the phone. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Hooper; sons, Lamar Hooper and Don Odell Hooper; sister, Gertrude Smith; granddaughter, Johnita Lynn Robinson; and great grandson, Jason Mote.
Survivors include daughters and son-in-laws, Gertrude & Jerry Carroll of the Batesville Community and Iva Lea & S. C. Robinson of Cornelia; sons and daughter-in-laws, J. D. & Rutheleen Hooper of Demorest and Gerald & Ruth Hooper of Cleveland; sisters, Pauline Morrison, Eunice Allen and Lougene Wall all of the Batesville Community, Katrina Robertson of Cornelia and Estelle Adams of Clarkesville; also surviving are numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services are 2:00 pm Friday, November 4, 2011, at Providence Baptist Church with Rev. Kenneth McEntire and Dr. Don Drawdy officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-9 pm on Thursday.
