Mr. , 81 of Gainesville died Thursday October 27, 2011 at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
A life long resident of Hall County, Mr. Gilleland was the son of the late Robert Lee and Lottie Bell Reed Gilleland. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and was retired from Sears, where he had worked as the Service Manager for a number of there Auto Centers. Mr. Gilleland was a member of the Poplar Springs Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife; Betty Sue Kemp Gilleland; sons and daughters-in-law; Mike and Debbie Gilleland; Mark and Becky Gilleland; daughter and son-in-law; Jeanine and Scott Holtzclaw; son, Randy Gilleland, all of Gainesville; grandchildren; John and Brandi Barnes, Jason and Haley Collins, Brittany Gilleland, Luke Gilleland, Kacie and Jordon Landers, Zach and Amanda Holtzclaw, all Gainesville and Kristen and D.J. Graham, Bethlehem; great grandchildren; Mikayla and Mason Barnes; Megan, Ava, Eadyn and Jessica Collins; Lottie and Harbor Landers; Hunter and Emma Holtzclaw, all of Gainesville.
Mr. Gilleland is preceded in death by two children; Rebecca and Gerald Gilleland; great grand-daughter, Abbey Grace Collins and daughter-in-law; Rebekah Gilleland.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday October 30, 2011 at the Poplar Springs Baptist Church. The Rev. Mike Gilleland and the Rev. David Matthews will officiate. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery with full military honors. The remains will lie in state at the church on Sunday from 2:30 p.m. until the funeral hour. The family will receive friends at the Mason & Ward Funeral Home on Saturday October 29, 2011 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.
