Katherine Hawthorne Cooper

Katherine Hawthorne Cooper, age 82, of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away on Monday,
October 24, 2011.

Mrs. Cooper was born on May 23, 1929, in Rome, Georgia, to the late Charlie C. and Laura Waits Hawthorne. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Harry Duke; second husband, Charles Cooper; step-daughter, Diane Dennis; and her sister, Lois Pigg. Mrs. Cooper was of the Baptist faith, a member of the Eastern Star, and a dedicated homemaker.

Survivors include her step-daughter and her spouse, Linda and Connally Cathy, Dallas, TX; sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Beverly Duke, Gainesville, GA, Steve and Nina Duke, Gainesville, GA, and Michael and Jordan Cooper, Murrayville, GA; sister, Marie Bradfield, Rome, GA; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 26, 2011, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia with Rev. Michael Kirby officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 25, 2011, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia.
