Reverend Billy Henry Cannon, age 76, of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away Friday, October 21, 2011 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Monday, October 24, 2011 in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The Reverend William Gee, Reverend Earl Jarrard and Reverend Larry Watkins will officiate. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm Sunday, October 23, 2011 at the funeral home.
Rev. Cannon was born in Pendergrass, Georgia and was the son of the late Glenn Cannon and Athalee Smith Cannon. He chartered Antioch Baptist Church (Caanan Baptist Church), over 40 years ago. He also pastored Morningside Baptist Church for over 18 years. Prior to his passing he had a ministry at the Hall County Correctional Institution.
Mr. Cannon is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Dorothy J. Cannon; daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and Brian Gordon and Janice and Danny Sewell; son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Sharon Cannon; grandchildren, David Gordon, John Gordon, Chris Cannon, Casey Jo Minish and Stephanie Cannon; and one sister, Martha Fultz all of Gainesville.
The family has requested that all ministers meet at the funeral home Monday Morning at 10:30 am to serve as honorary pall bearers.
