Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 22, 2011 at St. Paul United Methodist Church for W. Byron Turk, 94, of Gainesville.
The family will receive friends at Little & Davenport Funeral Home on Friday, October 21, 2011 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Rev. Paul Hannah and Rev. Calvin Haney will officiate. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Turk passed away on Thursday, October 20, 2011 following a period of declining health. Born on May 7, 1917, he was the son of the late Odus L and Eva Mundy Turk. Mr. Turk was Hall County Tax Commissioner for 28 years and a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Turk is preceded in death by his wife, Alma Tuggle Turk; brother, Royce Turk; sister-in-law, Billie Turk; sister, Selba Nell Ferguson; brother-in-law, Neal Ferguson; nephews, Stephen Ferguson and Jeff Turk.
Survivors include his son, Robert L. Turk of Gainesville; brother and sister-in-law, Winburn and Martha Jo Turk of Cumming; nieces, Eve Ferguson Odom of Gainesville, Lesa Turk (Jimmy) Whitworth of Lawrenceville, Carol Turk of McDonough; nephews, David (Pam) Turk of Oakwood, Mike (Dana) Ferguson of Gainesville, Bobby (Sandy) Ferguson of Cornelia; a number of great and great-great nieces and nephews and numerous cousins and special friend Louise Evans of Gainesville.
