Rev. Charles Howard Collins age 82 of Lula passed away Thursday Oct. 20, 2011 at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a brief illness.
Rev. Collins was born in Blairsville, Georgia on June 10, 1929 to the late Virgil C. & Minnie Magnolia Henson Collins. Rev. Collins was a retired Baptist Minister of 50 plus years having pastored the following churches located in Hall & Banks counties: Belton Baptist Church, Lula, Mountain View Baptist Church, Gainesville, Belmont Baptist Church, Gainesville, Westside Baptist Church, Gainesville, Homer Baptist Church, Homer, Calvary Baptist Church, Gainesville, Sugar Hill Baptist Church, Gainesville, & White Hall Baptist Church, Gainesville. He also was retired from the Georgia Department of Labor in Alto, Georgia. Rev. Collins was preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Collins Pirkle of Lula.
Survivors include, wife of 61 years, Anita Saxon Collins of Lula, son & daughter in law, Tony & Deborah Collins of Dahlonega, grandchildren, Nathan & Jamie Collins of Atlanta, Jonathan & Ashley Collins of Gainesville, great grandchildren, Jack Collins & Bianca Collins of Gainesville, brother, Ray Collins of Cleveland, nephews, Clyde Pirkle of Gainesville & Lamar Collins of Cleveland, niece, Latrelle Collins Youngblood of Cleveland.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday Oct. 23, 2011 at the Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Benny Turner, & Rev. Darryl Womack officiating.
Interment will be in Belton Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. & from 6:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Saturday Oct. 22, 2011 at the funeral home. The family asks that all area Ministers serve as honorary pallbearers and need to assemble at the funeral home by 1:30 p.m. on Sunday Oct. 23, 2011.
Flowers will be accepted but donations may be sent to Lula Baptist Church, Lula, Georgia.
