Harold A. Butz

Obituary Date: Saturday, October 1, 2011
Harold A. Butz, 77, passed away on October 1, 2011. Devoted husband, father, brother and friend, he will be greatly missed for his humility and integrity by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Born in Bath, Pennsylvania, 1934, Harold attended school through the Nazareth Area School District and graduated from Nazareth Area High School where he was the High School Football Quarterback. After graduation he served his country in the US Army following the Korean war, stationed in Germany from 1953-1956 supporting the Army supply chain in Company 302 CRB.

Upon returning home he acquired full time employment with Binney and Smith in Easton, PA. It was at this time that he met and married Margaret Steckel, his wife of 52 years. Finding a better opportunity with Schaibles bakery in Wilson, PA, which later became Maiers Bakery, he began a long successful career with the company retiring as Branch Manager in 1996. An avid sports fan, he was actively involved in coaching and assisting with the various sports his sons played throughout the years and was a lifelong fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. He, along with wife Margaret (Peggy) were members of Ebenezer Bible Fellowship Church in Bethlehem, PA until retirement. Upon retirement they enjoyed a happy 14 year vacation together in Bradenton, Florida.

Harold was the Son of the late Willard and Arlene (Nicholas) Butz of Stockertown, PA. He was also predeceased by brothers, Leroy Butz, Marlin Butz and Ronald Butz.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Margaret (Steckel) Butz of Cumming, GA; sons; Jeff Butz and wife Margaret of Danielsville, PA & Jim Butz and wife Melanie of Cumming, GA; grandchildren, Evan, Connor, Ryan, Hannah and Madison; sisters, Mae (Butz) Bender, Gloria Butz and Marjorie (Butz) Brown; brothers, Dale Butz, Carl Butz, Lester Butz; and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, October 22, starting at 4:00 pm at Ebenezer Bible Fellowship Church, 3100 Hecktown Road, Bethlehem, PA. After the service there will be a social gathering time with refreshments.
All family and friends are invited and encouraged to attend.
