Hazel Castleberry

Hazel Castleberry, 70, of Dahlonega passed away Thursday September 29, 2011 at her residence following a sudden illness.

Born November 11, 1940 to the late J. W. and Mary Helton, she lived most of her life in Dawson County before moving to Lumpkin County in 2006. Mrs. Castleberry was a homemaker, an avid gardener, loved to spend time fishing and was of the Baptist faith. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Castleberry; daughter, Regina "Gina" Whisnant; son, Randall Dennis Castleberry; and several sisters and brothers.

Surviving are her children, Rick and Brenda Castleberry, Orange Park, FL, Ronald and Anita Castleberry, Dawsonville, Renna and Wayne Jordan, Dawsonville; brother, Paul Helton, Dawsonville; twelve grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday October 1, 2011 at 11 o'clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Tommy Ross will officiate. Interment will follow in the Dawsonville City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends after 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
