Claudette Massie Grove

Claudette Massie Grove, age 75, of Mt. Airy, Georgia, passed away on Friday, September 23, 2011.

Mrs. Grove was born in Ronceverte, West Virginia, on June 24, 1936, to the late Claud E. Massie and Virginia Turner Massie Auxier. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Grove, Sr., grandson, William Brent Grove and her sister, Armintha Dunbar. Mrs. Grove was a member at Cornelia Christian Church. She was a Sunday School Teacher and a member of the Ladies Christian Council. Mrs. Grove was also a member of Children's Miracle Network at Wal-Mart. She was a retired employee of Fieldale Farms with 19 years of service and a retired employee of Wal-Mart with 17 years of service.

Survivors include daughter, Vickie Wall, Cornelia, GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Michael Chitwood , Lula, GA and Kathy and Tommy York , Clayton, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Willie L. and Tammy Grove, Jr., Mt. Airy, GA; son, Joseph Grove, Mt. Airy, GA; brothers, Claud E. Massie, Jr., Ronceverte, W.VA, Kenny Ray Massie, Blue Field, W.VA, Mike Massie, Ronceverte, W. VA and Mitch Massie, Ronceverte, W. VA; 13 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at Cornelia Christian Church, at 3:00 p.m., on Sunday, September 25, 2011, with David Terrell officiating. Interment will follow in the Yonah Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Grove will lie in state at Cornelia Christian Church from 2:30 p.m. until the funeral hour.

The family will receive friends, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., on Saturday, September 24. 2011.
