Obituary Date: Monday, September 19, 2011
Howard F. Holley, age 78, of Auburn, GA, died Monday, September 19, 2011 after an extended illness. Mr. Holley has been cremated. A memorial service will be held Friday, September 23, 2011 at 2 pm at Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel. Rev. Danny Newbern will officiate. Interment will follow later in the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton with Military Honors. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 23, from 1 until 2pm at the funeral home. Flowers accepted or contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Mr. Holley was preceded in death by his daughter, Gloria Elizabeth Holley. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Holley, Auburn, Son and Daughter-in-law, Jim and Pamela Holley, Lawrenceville. Grandchildren, Christopher, Nicholas, and Jordan Holley. Sister and Brother-in-law, Cora and Wesley Chafin, Huntington, WV. Sister, Myrtle Christian, Huntington, WV.
Mr. Holley was born in Mason County, WV and had lived in Metro Atlanta for the past 18 years. He was retired from the Air Force after 22 years of service. He was an airborne radio communications specialist. In addition to serving on many different aircraft and in many countries around the world, he served on the Presidential Transport Team out of Andrews Air Force Base. He was part of the team that served on President Johnson's flight around the world. He served many other dignitaries, both foreign and domestic. After retirement he worked in the insurance industry and as a locksmith.
