Barbara Jane Hicks

Barbara Jane Sexton Hicks, 72, of Gainesville, died Friday, September 16, 2011, at New Horizons Nursing Home.

Born June 30, 1939, in Hall County, GA. She was the daughter of the late William Ottis Sexton Sr. and Omar Jane Allen Sexton. She was the widow of Walter Bobby Hicks, Dahlonega, GA. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Leroy Sexton and Harry Truman Sexton.

She is survived by her two children, Bobbie Jane Ingram of San Antonio, TX and Benny Steven Hicks of Augusta, GA; three grandchildren, Andrew Earl Janney, Dayna Brooke Janney, and Cameron Alexander Hicks. Surviving siblings include Charles Sexton of Murrayville, GA, Gene Sexton of Hepzibah, GA, Billy Sexton of Dawsonville, GA, Jerry Sexton of Oakwood, GA, and Martha Hartley of Baxter, KY.

She will be remembered fondly by those who knew her as cheerful, loving, outgoing, and funny. She gave a piece of her heart to everyone she met. We will cherish her gift always.

Visitation will be held from 5 PM until 9 PM Saturday September, 17, 2011 at Banister Funeral Home in Dahlonega, GA.

A funeral service will be held at the Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega on Sunday, September 18, 2011 at 2 PM.

Rev. Michael Rodgers will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Philippi Baptist Church Cemetery in Lumpkin County.
