Lola Bernice English Thompson Williams passed away at her residence Tuesday, September 13, 2011.
She was born to parents, Freeman and Ina English on September 14, 1922. Bernice was the wife of R.E. Thompson and later Roy Williams Jr, and worked for many years at Ridgecrest Hospital and the Rabun County Courthouse.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by four brothers, I.N. English, Porter English, Gervace English, Buddy Ross English; and one sister, Opal English Rogers.
Loving memories of growing up in the Timpson Community, with a loving Mother and Dad and a close knit family of aunts, uncles, and cousins, will always be held close by son, Dwayne Thompson and his wife, Cecile of Clayton; and daughter, Dee Thompson Edwards and her husband, Lamar of Clayton. Grandchildren, Anne Neal Thompson, Mark Edwards and wife, Lisa, and Nicole Edwards Queen and husband, Gary will always remember her loving and generous countenance and her habit of humming "You Are My Sunshine". Her great-grandchildren, Will, Daniel, and Timothy Edwards and Alleson and Gracie Queen will have fond memories of their "Granny B" loving them and telling them about the "olden days". Fond loving memories of her life will also be shared by sisters, Burice Bradshaw and Joyce Grist, sister-in-laws, May Belle English, Carolyn English, and several nieces, nephews and in-laws and many other friends who will remember her smiling face and cheerful outlook. Trout fishing was her hobby and her family was her passion.
The family will receive friends at Beck Funeral Home Thursday evening, September 15, 2011 from 6 Pm to 8 PM.
The life of Lola Bernice English Thompson Williams will be celebrated by relatives and friends in the Beck Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, September 16, 2011 at 11 AM.
The celebration of her life will be led by Reverend Jeffrey Reynolds. Those present at the Celebration will sing "You Are My Sunshine" and hum "Amazing Grace" to the music given by Jean Edwards. The family of Granny B send to all of you, her friends, a generous "thank you" for being her friend over the years and for your kind thoughts and prayers at this time.
