Betty Richardson

Betty Mae Castleberry Richardson, 74, of Gainesville, GA, passed away, Monday, September 12, following an extended illness.

Mrs. Richardson was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother, and devoted friend. She was a very active member of First Presbyterian church of Gainesville, where she was active in the Presbyterian Women and Wonderful Works as well as being a past deacon, Sunday school teacher and vacation bible school teacher. Retired after 37 years of banking, she was active in the Pilot Club of Gainesville and the Northeast Georgia Medical Center Auxiliary. Hobbies included photography, reading, sewing and bragging about her grandchildren.

A lifelong resident of Gainesville, Mrs. Richardson was the daughter of the late Paul Castleberry and Mae Castleberry. She is survived by her husband, John N. Richardson, Jr. of Gainesville; her daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Dan Schaap, Gainesville, GA and Paula and Scott Bagwell, Greenville, SC; grandchildren, Mary Katherine Skidmore of Rutledge, GA, Margaret Schaap of Gainesville, Curt Bagwell, Ashley Bagwell, and Jessica Bagwell of Greenville, SC; brother Edward Castleberry, sister Nell Castleberry, and brother and sister-in-law Frank and Charlotte Castleberry, all of Gainesville; brothers and sisters-in-law Johnny and Mary Castleberry of Cumming, Will and Caroline Castleberry of Cornelia; seventeen nieces and nephews.

Memorial services are scheduled for 1:00pm, Friday, September 16 at First Presbyterian of Gainesville, S. Enota Drive. The family will receive guest at the church in the Swetenberg Hall following the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church Music Fund and the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund.
