David Roy Chastain

David Roy Chastain, age 75 of Helen, passed away Sunday, September 11, 2011 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Mr. Chastain was born May 5, 1936 in Young Harris to the late Vea and Louise Canup Chastain. He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force where he served in the Korean War and was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Hiawassee.

Survivors include his wife, Myrtle Alston Chastain, Helen; son, David Roy Chastain Jr., Long Creek, SC; daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Stanley Etris, Cleveland; grandchildren, Nikki Webb, Cleveland; Jessica Cantrell, Cleveland; brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Marsha Chastain; Sautee; sisters and brothers-in-law, Janie and Gary Berrong, Hiawassee; Lou and Henry Martin, Miami, FL; Judy and Burrell Truesdell, CA; Barbara and Doug Lee, Gainesville; sister, Betty Webb, NV; 4 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 14, 2011 from the Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. The Rev. Roger Dunagan will officiate. Interment will follow in Yonah View Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 Tuesday at the funeral home.
