Carolyn Allen Townes

Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Miss Carolyn Allen Townes, age 86, of Jefferson, who passed away on Saturday, September 10, 2011. Miss Townes was born in Aragon, GA, a daughter to the late Carol Allen Townes and the late Mamie Tinsley Townes and was also preceded in death by brother, Jackson Tinsley Townes and sister, Martha Townes Neel. Miss Townes was a retired educator, after 31 years, serving 21 years in the Jefferson City School System. Miss Townes was a graduate of North Georgia College and a member of the First Baptist Church of Jefferson. Miss Townes was a founding member of the Tumbling Waters Society and the Director for the ARC of Jackson County for 15 years.

Survivors include 9 nieces and nephews, 14 great nieces and nephews and 3 great great nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, September 13, 2011, at 11:00am in the Woodbine Cemetery in Jefferson. The visitation will be held on Tuesday morning from 9:00
