Mildred Aaron Cochran

Mildred Aaron Cochran, age 85, of Homer, Georgia, went home to be with our Lord on Friday, September 9, 2011, at her residence.

Mrs. Cochran was born in Banks County, on November 3, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Gladys Satterfield Aaron. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Julian Addy Cochran; son, Phillip Q. Cochran; brothers, Clyde and Boyd Aaron.

Mrs. Cochran was a graduate of Banks County High School. She was employed by Coats and Clarks Thread Mill for several years and Carwood Manufacturing Company. Mrs. Cochran was a food service technician and the manager, as well as a cook for Grady School Lunchroom for several years until it closed. Everyone said she and Mrs. Wansa Purcell made the best rolls around. Later in life she came home, raised chickens, and had a cattle farm, also a poll worker for Banks County Elections for a number of years.

Mrs. Cochran was a member of Damascus Baptist Church and the Joy Sunday School class; her hobbies were helping in church as long as she was able; she loved her church so very much. She was also a member of the Banks County AARP. Mrs. Cochran loved to cook, make quilts and crochet. After she became ill, Mrs. Lucilla Bell would call her and tell her it was time to crochet.

Thanks to the Hospice nurses who were so good to her and also thanks to Big Daddy.

Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, James and Dianne Cochran, Homer, GA; sisters and brothers-in-law, Doris and Bob Meyers, Homer, GA and Catherine and Wilton Massey, Homer, GA; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and also several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are scheduled for 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 11, 2011, from Damascus Baptist Church with Rev. Roy G. Rogers and Rev. Chad Payne officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
