Reba Austin Ayers

Obituary Date: Monday, September 5, 2011
Reba Austin Ayers, 89, of Marietta passed away Monday September 5, 2011 at Sunrise of East Cobb Assisted Living Home following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday September 7, 2011 at 3:30pm from the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with the Rev. Milton Harris officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday September 6, 2001 from 7pm-9pm at the funeral home.

Ms. Ayers was born May 14, 1922 in Dallas GA to the late Roy andVena Akins Austin. She was preceded in death by her husband Gordon Ayers, sisters Mildred Austin and Jewell Palmer, brothers W.A. Austin, and Charles Austin. Ms. Ayers graduated from Dallas GA High School. She loved to cook and could roll biscuits out with her hands & they always were the same size. She was known far & wide for her peach and chocolate pies. The great grandchildren nicknamed her "the cupcake maker" because she always brought them all kinds of cupcakes when she came to see them. She made beautiful quilts that she loved to give away to people. She and her husband Gordon had a comedy & singing act that they performed around the areain nursing homes, churches, and retirement homes. Ms. Ayers loved her church New Bridge Baptist and people. She always had a smile on her face. "Who can find a virtuous Woman? For her prize is far above rubies" Proverbs 31:10

She leaves behind a daughter Patsy Lummus & husband Robert, son Tom Ayers and daughter-in-law Margaret Ayers, grandchildren Dawn & Dewey Neese, Heidi & Jason Williams, Rich & Christy Ayers, Patrick & Rachel Ayers, Katrina Ayers, great grandchildren Jordan & Morgan Neese, Peyton Williams, Drew Dockter, sisters Mary and (Ruben) Ayers, Bobbie & (Woodrow) Leggett, Ruth Freeman, brothers and sisters-in-law R.M. Austin and Grace, Tom Austin & Julia Fae, many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles.
