Charles Myron Sewell

Charles Myron Sewell, 87, of Gainesville passed away Sunday September 4, 2011 at his residence following an extended illness.

Memorial service will be held Wednesday September 7, 2011 at 11:00am from the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with Dr. Jerry Gill officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday September 6, 2011 from 6pm-9pm at the funeral home.

Mr. Sewell was born July 24, 1924 in Atlanta to the late John B. and Maggie Lou Moore Sewell. Charles served in WWII with the United States Army. Mr. Sewell was employed for 37 years with the City of Gainesville Fire Dept. where he served as Asst. Fire Chief. He was a past President of the Georgia Fire Chiefs Assoc. and he was a member of the Golden Nuggets at Lakewood Baptist Church where he was also a member. He was an avid sports fan of all types of sports, he was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. and American Legion. Mr. Sewell was preceded in death by his wife Tommie Janet Payne Sewell, brother Curtis Sewell, and sister Mildred Robertson.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law Connie & Lyman Coker of Gainesville, son and daughter-in-law Charles Craig & Jan Sewell of Gainesville, son and daughter-in-law Mike & Judy Sewell of Gainesville, grandchildren Wendy Long, Sandy Wells, Mandy Stafford, Tracie Palmour, Erin Horner, Hattie Sewell, and DeAnna Browne, 9 great grandchildren, sister Helen Edwards of Acworth. The family would like to give a special thanks to the caretakers Weba and Jenny Loggins.
