Buford Johnson

Mr. Buford Johnson, age 85, of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at Autumn Breeze Assisted Living following an extended illness

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 pm Saturday, August 27, 2011 in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The Reverend David E. Smith will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 pm Friday, August 26, 2011 and from 12 noon until the funeral hour of 2 pm on Saturday, August 27, 2011.

Mr. Johnson was born in Carroll County, Georgia and was the son to the late Leander Johnson and Ruby Driver Johnson. He served in the United States Army in the Asian Pacific Campaign, during World War II. He was retired from Wrigley's as a Maintenance Mechanic after many years. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife of 38 years, Linease Conaway Johnson and second wife of 21 years, Callie White Johnson.

Everyone knew him for his sense of humor and teasing nature. He was a hard working and charitable man. His love for life and laughter, love for his family and friends and heart for service will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law: Beverly and Bill Williams; son and daughter-in-law, Eddie and Micki Johnson; son and daughter-in-law, Darrell and Kim Johnson; son, Dan Johnson; grandchildren: Andrew and wife Nicole Williams, Matthew Williams, Laura and husband Sean Bettis, Melissa Johnson, Lindsey Johnson, Cayley Johnson; great-grandchild: Raylan Bettis; brother, James Johnson, and sisters, Clara Castell and Louise Gilley.
