Otis Hampton Keith, age 91 of Cleveland, GA passed away, Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at Friendship Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Hampton was born June 5, 1920 in Flowery Branch, GA and was raised in Cleveland. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1941 where he served for more than 20 years. He was a flight instructor in World War II and traveled to Hawaii and Japan. At Moody AFB in Valdosta, GA he retired as a Master Sergeant.
In the following years, Hampton lived in California, where he worked in the aerospace industry. He later returned to White County, GA in the late 1990's and bought the family home in Cleveland which he helped build. He was interested in genealogy and enjoyed researching family records.
Hampton was preceded in death by his parents, Otis Fay and Lemma Keith, and by his brothers, Harold and Ewell. He is survived in life by his sons Morgan and Bruce; daughters Linda and Marlene; sisters, Buell Jones and Laurene Sosebee; grandsons Douglas, David and Mark; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Saturday, August 20, 2011 from the Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. The Rev. Mike Irvin will officiate. Interment will follow in County Line Baptist Church Cemetery with Full Military Honors provided by the Robins Air Force Base Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends on Friday at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday morning prior to the funeral service.
