Merlin "Mike" Melancon

Merlin "Mike" Melancon, 86, of Dawsonville passed away Thursday August 11, 2011 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness.

Born June 27, 1925 in New Orleans, LA to the late Emile and Corrine Melancon, he had been a resident of Dawson County for the past 18 years. Mr. Melancon was a retired United States Air Force Master Sergeant and a veteran of WWII, Korean Conflict, and Vietnam. A loving husband, father and grandfather who was dedicated to his family, he was preceded in death by his twin brother, Melvin Peter Melancon.

Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Yvonne Melancon, Dawsonville; son and daughter in law, Richard Melancon and Emily Monroe, Cumming; daughter and son in law, Cindy and Fred Flohr, Westford, MA; grandchildren, Jeff and Karla Flohr, Nick Flohr, Clay Monroe-Melancon, Dustin Monroe-Melancon, and Rodney Monroe-Melancon.
