Thelma McNeal McGinnis

Mrs. Thelma McNeal McGinnis, age 96, of Gainesville, Georgia, went home to be with her Lord and family, Tuesday, August 09, 2011, following an extended illness.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 pm Friday, August 12, 2011 at Memorial Park North Riverside Chapel with interment to follow in Alta Vista Cemetery. Reverend Matt Wethington, Reverend James McNeal and Reverend Maxey Ladd will officiate. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until the funeral hour on Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. McGinnis was born January 9, 1915 in Jackson County, Georgia and was the daughter of the late John Thomas McNeal and Elizabeth Stancil McNeal. She was employed with Chicopee Manufacturing for a number of years and was a member of Riverbend Baptist Church. Most of all she loved camping and fishing with her family and friends as well as spending with her grand-children. She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 65 years, Jack L. McGinnis; son-in-law, Wayne Moody, Sr.; brothers who were all ministers, Luke McNeal, Otis McNeal, Silas McNeal, Paul McNeal, and Norman McNeal; sisters, Beautel Richardson, Viola Gooch and Gertrude Gee.

Mrs. McGinnis is survived by her daughter, Sarah McGinnis Moody of Gainesville; grandsons and wives, Dell and Debbie Moody of Gainesville; Dean and Suzanne Moody of Cleveland; Jack and Deanna Moody of VA; great-grandchildren, Mistie and Scott Davis, Megan and Victor Pacheco, Kevin Moody, Alisha Moody, Jasmine Moody, Riley Moody, Lindsey Whitmire, and Will Whitmire. She is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
