Lewis W. Leathers, age 76 of Gainesville, passed away on Sunday, August 7, 2011 at his residence.
No funeral services are scheduled at this time.
Mr. Leathers was born September 9, 1934 in Lyle, Washington. Lewis married Mildred A. Jones on April 9, 1955. Always a good provider and hard worker, he began his career in the Timber Industry in Oregon & Montana, finishing his career with Texas Eastern Products Pipeline in Seymour, Indiana. Lewis retired to the foothills of the North Georgia Mountains near Gainesville, where he loved to go trout fishing and deer hunting. For the past eight years he has been a wonderful caregiver and constant companion to his beloved wife, Millie, who has Alzheimer's. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him. Lewis was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Barrigar, his brother, LeRoy Leathers and a grandson, Justin Leathers.
Other survivors include his two sons and their wives, Jack & Beth Leathers of Gainesville and Jerry & Debbie Leathers of Boca Raton, Florida, his daughter & son-in-law, Deborah & Michael Rogers of Columbus, Indiana, grandson, Tyson Leathers, granddaughters, Shastin Leathers and Nina Shoultz, Jackie Leathers, Sadie Leathers, Brittany Leathers and Shari Goldstein and 4 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Foundations, Metro Atlanta Regional Office, 41 Perimeter Center East, Suite 550, Atlanta, Georgia 30346.
