Mary (Mickey) Catherine Hogan

Mrs. Mary (Mickey) Catherine Hogan of Sandy Springs, GA died Sunday, August 8th, 2011 at the age of 94.

She was born January 17th, 1917 in Pittsburgh, PA, the daughter of Daniel and Mary (Lee) McMaughan. She moved to Chicago at the age of 5; grew up on Chicago's south side; married and raised her family there. In 1984 Mary moved to Georgia to be close to her son and his family. She resided at the Hellenic Tower until her passing.

While at the Hellenic Tower Mary was very active in the support groups at the Tower and in helping other residents whenever they were in need. She worked at Wendy's for ten years and received several commendations for her work. Mary was an active member of Saint Andrew's Catholic Church in Roswell. Mary spent as much time as possible with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mary always had a smile on her face and comforting words for a friend. She always had a positive attitude about life, regardless of what life threw at her. She will always be remembered by her friends and family as someone who deeply cared about you and wanted to help you in any way should could.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Thomas Murray in 1947 and Larry Hogan in 1977; her brother Bill McMaughan and sister Ellen McMaughan.
She is survived by her son William and wife Patricia (Stranahan) Murray; grandchildren, Tim Murray and his wife Ann Carol, Kate (Murray) Jones and her husband Eliot as well as four great grandchildren, Ella and Grace Murray and Dylan and Eli Jones.

A service for Mary will be held on Thursday, August 11th at the Hellenic Tower, 8450 Roswell Road, Atlanta, Georgia at 4:30 p.m. in the Community Room.
