James "Jim" Popp, 68, of Big Canoe passed away Wednesday August 3, 2011 at Piedmont Hospital following a period of declining health.
Born October 27, 1942 in Middletown, Ohio to the late Carl Eugene and Mary Olive Popp, he had lived in Big Canoe for the past 15 years. Mr. Popp retired from UPS after 28 years of service. He works as a bailiff for the Dawson County Courts and was a member of the Dawsonville Lion's Club and Etowah Lodge # 222 F & AM.
Surviving are his wife, Nancy H. Popp, Big Canoe; children, Ronald D. Popp, Doraville, Denise P. and Charles L. Holmes, Loganville, Pamela P. and J. Barry Watkins, Snellville, James Michael Popp, Tifton; sisters and brothers in law, Sandra P. and Ronald Cohen, Cincinnati, OH, Marianne P. and Donald Creech, Palatka, FL; ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held Saturday August 6, 2011 at 11 o'clock at Big Canoe Chapel. Dr. Jimmy Allen and Dr. Dan Whitaker will officiate.
