Charles T. "Charlie" Salter

Charles T. "Charlie" Salter, 69, of Dawsonville passed away Tuesday August 2, 2011 at The Oaks at Limestone following a period of declining health.

Born February 5, 1942 in Shreveport, Louisiana to the late Charles T., Sr. and Lucille Salter, he had lived in Dawson County since 2003 having moved from Roswell. Mr. Salter was employed a number of years with Ralston Purena after which he became a purchasing agent with McDonalds, Chick-Fil-A, Arby's, and Delight's. He retired from the food industry in 2000. He possessed a love of history, especially the Civil War period and was a collector of Civil War memorabilia, antique pottery and furniture, and he restored two award winning antique automobiles. Charlie was a member of the Church of the Apostles and was also preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Charles Mahar.

Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Judy Salter, Dawsonville; children, Sandra and Matt Mahar, Asheville, NC, Charles T., III and Chris Salter, Charlotte, NC; sister and brother in law, Linda and Flick Pecoul, Long Beach, MS; grandchildren, Emma Grace Mahar, Matthew Michael Mahar, Mary Kathryn Mahar, Anna Elizabeth Mahar, Ansley Grace Salter, and Kaitlyn Faith Salter.

Funeral services will be held Friday August 5, 2011 at 11 o'clock at the Church of the Apostles. Pastor J. P. Morris and Paul Morris will officiate. The remains will then be taken to Senatobia, Mississippi for interment in Bethesda Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 until 8 at the funeral home.
