James Travis Guess, 62, of Gillsville passed away Thursday July 28, 2011 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held Saturday July 30, 2011 at 4pm from the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Ashley Silvers will officiate the service. The family will receive friends from 6pm-9pm Friday July 29, 2011 at the funeral home.

Mr. Guess was born September 20, 1948 in Dahlonega to the late Ottrell Guess and Ruth Guess. Mr. Guess served in the United States Navy and was a supervisor for Central States Printing Company. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Ranger GA.

Mr. Guess is survived by his wife Sherry McKinnon Guess of Gillsville, daughter and son-in-law Sharron & Terry Adams of Gillsville, son David Guess of Jefferson, son and daughter-in-law Ben & Jenny Guess of Gainesville, daughter and son-in-law Beth & Brandon Dukes of Gillsville, grandchildren Matthew Adams, Emily Adams, Eli Adams, Kadyn Dukes, Allen Guess, Taylor Guess, Ethan Guess, Logan Guess, Brandon Guess, Terry Adams Jr., mother Ruth Cochran Guess of Calhoun, sister Sandy Silvers of Ranger GA, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Barbara & Kimsey Long of Calhoun, special cousins Donna Buncy and Tammy Madera & family, and many other nieces, nephews, and cousins.
