Clayton Grier

Clayton Grier, age 78 of Cumming, passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2011. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Mayfield Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, W. H. and Alma Grier; son, Melvin Grier.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Verlene Grier of Cumming; daughters and son-in-law, Donna Marie Rogers of Dawsonville, Vicki and Jerry Lance of Auburn; granddaughters, Christina Marie Atwell of Dawsonville, Ashley Nicole Turner of Murrayville; brothers, Dean Grier of Cumming, Herbert Grier of Buford; sisters, Frances Curry of Gainesville, Maudine DeLong of Gainesville, JoAnn Smith of Cumming; brothers-in-law, Cecil Bennett of Cumming, Winfred Bennett of Dawsonville; sisters-in-law, Imogene Barrett of Cumming, Martha Turner of Ball Ground; and a number of other relatives also survive.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 28 at 2:00 pm at Ingram Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Scott Sorrells, Rev. Wilbur Ridings and Rev. Nathan Martin officiating. Interment will follow in Mayfield Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Ingram Funeral Home on Tuesday from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm, Wednesday 9:00 am until 9:00 pm and Thursday from 9:00 am until hour of service.
