James Lee "Cub" Ivie, Sr.

James Lee "Cub" Ivie, Sr., age 92, of Cornelia, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at The Oaks at Scenic View.
Born in Habersham County on April 18, 1919, he was a son of the late Ezra and Lena Powers Ivie. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Efford Ivie.
Mr. Ivie was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and had previously been employed with Schnadig Furniture Company. He was a U.S. Army WWII veteran and was a VFW member. Mr. Ivie was an automobile mechanic in Baldwin County for 10 years.
Survivors include his wife, Pauline Leach Ivie of the home; daughters, Glyness L. Cook of Lake County, FL, Bettie M. Williams of Baldwin; son, James L. Ivie, Jr. of Cornelia; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services are 2:00 pm Friday, July 22, 2011 at New Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Chris York officiating. The body will lie in state at the church from 1 pm until the service hour on Friday. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors by the Habersham County American Legion Post #84, Grant Reeves VFW Post #7720 and the Rabun County DAV Chapter #15.
