Ethell M. Stowers

Ethell M. Stowers, 72, of Hiawassee passed away Monday July 18, 2011 at St. Joseph's Hospital following an extended illness.

Born August 22, 1938 to the late Weldon and Zona Mathis, she spent a large part of her life in Cumming and Dawsonville before moving to Hiawassee. Mrs. Stowers was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church and a loving mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Murphy Mathis, John Mathis; sister, Kathleen Cantrell; daughter in law, Lisa Stowers; and nephew, Larry Cantrell.

Surviving are her husband of 56 years, Douglas Stowers, Hiawassee; daughters, Gayla Gay, Dawsonville, Kim Hutchison, Cartersville; sons, Paul Stowers, Dawsonville, Joel Stowers, Dawsonville, Jason Stowers, Dawsonville; grandchildren, Whitney Gay, Alex Gay, Evan Stowers, Eli Stowers, Erica Martin, Tyler Stowers, Shand Stowers; great granddaughter, Caroline Grace Suggs; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday July 21, 2011 at 12 o'clock at the Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Danny Bennett will officiate. Interment will follow in the Crossroads Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5 until 9 at the funeral home.
