Clifford E. Jackson, age 74, of Buford, GA, died on Thursday, July 7, 2011. Funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 10, 2011 at 2PM at Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel. Rev. Edward Davenport will officiate. Interment will follow in Hamilton Mill Memorial Gardens with military honors. The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 9, from 6-9PM at the funeral home.
Mr. Jackson was preceded in death by his parents, Arlin C. & Ethel C. Jackson; son, Joel Nathaniel Jackson; and sons in-law, Charles Gordon and Michael Tatum.
He is survived by his wife, Vallie Doster Jackson, Sugar Hill; daughters, Donnis Jean Gordon, Statham, and Patty Denise Knight, Braselton; son & daughter in-law, Nathan Eugene & Kim Jackson, Buford; 4 Grandchildren; 5 Great Grandchildren; sister & brother in-law, Carolyn & Hubert Forester, Gloster, GA; several nieces, nephews, & cousins.
Mr. Jackson was a lifelong resident of Buford where he was a member of Buford Church of God. He retired from General Motors after 34 years of service. He continued to work another 15 years in the automobile industry as a customer service representative with BMW. He was a member of UAW Local 10, and served on the Bargaining Committee from 1966 to 1988. Mr. Jackson was also a veteran of the US Army, where he served with an artillery unit for 2 years.
