Lucille Darnell Whitaker, 90, of Atlanta passed away Tuesday July 5, 2011 at Laurel Bay Convalescent Home following a period of declining health.
Born May 5, 1921 in Bartow County to the late John and Mittie Darnell, she grew up in Dawson County. Mrs. Whitaker worked for the Southern Bell Telephone Company for thirty nine years. She was a loving and devoted mother to her son, Johnny Ray Whitaker who also preceded her in death along with a sister, Lena Wakefield, and brother, Howard Darnell.
Surviving are a brother, Hobart Darnell, Dawsonville, and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Graveside services will be held Saturday July 9, 2011 at 11 o'clock at the Dawsonville City Cemetery.
