Geneva Sosebee Stephens

Geneva Sosebee Stephens age 96 of Athens, Formerly of Gainesville, passed away on Friday, July 1st, 2011 at Athens Heritage Home following an extended illness.

Funeral Services are scheduled for Wednesday July 6th, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with internment to follow in Alta Vista Cemetery. Reverend Marshall Dale will officiate. The family will receive friends on Tuesday July 5th, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Stephens was born on July 27th, 1914 in Cornelia Ga to the late Mack Sosebee and Callie Goss Sosebee. She was a nurse and of the Baptist Faith. Geneva was well known as "Mama Steve". Mrs. Stephens was a wonderful Mother and Grandmother. She was preceded in death by her Parents, her Husband, Paul Stephens, her Brother, Paul Milton Sosebee, and Sisters Belle Wilson, Estelle Winters and Lila Woodall.

Mrs. Stephens is survived by her Daughter and Son-in-law Sybil and Bill Stephens of Athens, Son and Daughter-in-law, Doug and Deborah Stephens of Gainesville, Ga, 6 Grandchildren, 8 Great- Grandchildren, 5 Great-Great Grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family wants to express a special thanks to nurses and staff at the Athens Heritage Nursing Home and also to the Untied Hospice. Those wishing to make Contributions Can do so to their favorite charity or flowers will be accepted by the family.

The family also wants to give a special thanks to Pat Paul, for giving her love to our mother as a special friend and care-giver.
