James Millard Turner, 73, of Dawsonville passed away Tuesday June 21, 2011 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a short illness.
Born October 6, 1937 in Little Rock, Arkansas to the late Francis and Mable Turner, he had lived in Dawsonville since 1999 having moved from Dunwoody. Mr. Turner retired as a system analyst for IBM with 30 years of service. He was a U. S. Air Force Veteran and was a loving husband, father and a devout Christian and member of the First Baptist Church of Dawsonville.
Mr. Turner married in 1960 in Austin, Texas to his wife of 51 years, Martha Beatrice Cain Turner, Dawsonville. Also surviving are his sons and daughters in law, Kenneth James and Martha Alicia Simmons Turner, Atlanta, Robert Michael Turner, Atlanta, Johnathan Cutler and Beth Bankston Turner, Barnesville, Christopher Charles and Amanda Abernathy Turner, Norcross; daughter in law, Rebecca Turner, Atlanta; sister and brother in law, Beverly and Ernest Cooke, Hot Springs, Arkansas; brother and sister in law, Marvin and Joanne Turner, Goldsboro, NC; and 11 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday June 25, 2011 at 11 o'clock at the First Baptist Church of Dawsonville. Dr. Jim Gaines will officiate. Interment will follow at Sawnee View Gardens at 1:30.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 until 8 at the funeral home.
