Gladys Mae Spurrier Bowers

Mrs. Gladys Mae Spurrier Bowers, age 86, of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away Sunday, June 19, 2011 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a brief illness.

A memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 am Saturday, June 25, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church in the Chapel. Dr. Terry Walton will officiate. The family will receive friend immediately following the service at the church in the gathering room.

Mrs. Bowers was born in Roanoke, VA and was the daughter of the late H.H. Spurrier and Ferrie L. Thomasson Spurrier. She was a homemaker and was a member of the Gainesville First United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years Lee S. Bowers; brothers, G. Thomas Spurrier and Robert E. Spurrier.

Mrs. Bowers is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and Wayne Stephens of Dacula; nephew, Jim Austin of Loganville; and several other nieces and nephews of North Carolina.
