Robert Melvin Burruss, age 62, of Lula passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2011. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday from the chapel of Little Davenport Funeral Home with Rev. Dean Bryant and Rev. Henry Loggins officiating with burial at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Burruss was a member of Corinth Baptist Church, Melvin loved living life to the fullest, his joy came from being with people he loved, working on his farm and his menagerie of animals and of course he was always ready for a trip to a good restaurant. The family would like to give a special thank you to the nurses at Hospice of Northeast Georgia Medical Center for their love and care.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Williams Burruss of Lula; daughter and son in law, Meredith and John Ford of Gainesville; parents, Robert Clay and Sylvia Young Burruss of Gainesville; sister and brother in law, Linda and Allen Dockery of Watkinsville; brother and sister in law, Michael and Shelia Burruss of Gainesville; sisters in law, Mary Pierce and Margaret Williams both of Gainesville; nephews, Jason Burruss and Justin Burruss of Gainesville; nieces, Melony Dockery Burer of Forney, Tx; Melissa Dockery Smith of Watkinsville; Sarah Pierce Wimberly of Atlanta and a number of cousins and great nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
