Chesley George "C.G." Williams, Sr.

Obituary Date: Monday, June 6, 2011
Memorial services honoring the life of Chesley George "C.G." Williams, Sr., age 92, of the Batesville Community, Clarkesville, will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, June 9, 2011 from the Providence Baptist Church with Dr. Don Drawdy officiating. The family will visit with guests at the church following the service.

Mr. Williams passed away Monday, June 6, 2011 following a brief illness.

Born in Ida, Louisiana on October 10, 1918, C.G was the son of the late Robert "Pinky" and Zula Nelson Williams. After high school C.G. went into the United States Air Force and served our Country in World War II where he trained in England as a paratrooper for the Normandy Invasion. C. G. and his wife Nancy later moved to Atlanta where he worked as a purchasing agent for Equifax for over 38 years. After retirement, they moved to the Batesville Community in their beloved North Georgia Mountains where they built their dream home and enjoyed a much slower pace of life. C. G. and Nancy traveled around the world over the years and C. G. was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to hike and fly fish for trout. In addition to his parents, Mr. Williams is preceded in death by a son Chesley George "Rusty" Williams, Jr., brothers Claude Williams and Clyde Williams, and a sister at infancy.

Survivors include his wife Nancy Marchant Williams of the Batesville Community, Clarkesville, daughter Judy Leah Williams of Middletown, Connecticut, daughter in law Summer Almand Williams of St. Augustine, Florida, brother Gray Williams of Pensacola, Florida, sister in law and brother in law Eva Marchant and Charles Carmichael of Macon, brother in law and sister in law Joseph I. and Chesterlee Marchant of Milan, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
